  1. “In Native American animal medicine the dragonfly is of the dreamtime and the illusionary facade we accept as our physical reality. It also says that Dragonfly is the essence of the winds of change. If a dragonfly comes to you, they think it may be a message that it is time to break down the illusions you have held that restrict your actions or ideas”(Quote from Dianne Lehmann). Dragonflies are reminders that we are light and can reflect the light in powerful ways if we choose to do so. “Let there be light” is the divine prompting to use the creative imagination as a force within your life. They help you to see through your illusions and allow your own light to shine in a new vision. According to some other Native American mythology, the dragonfly beckons us to seek out the parts of our habits that we need to change Perhaps the most popular symbolic Native American meaning behind the red dragonfly is that they symbolize renewal after facing a time of great hardship. It is considered a good omen by some, for it represents eternal love. Then to other Native Americans they are the souls of the dead.
